Who are our people?

Our people are an intergenerational cooperative of Black trans men and trans-masculine folks across the state of Maryland and DMV metro area.

Why are we here?

Our people need space to transcend patriarchal masculinity, and into organized networks of care. Mosaic is here to empower and facilitate the belonging and self-determination of Black trans men and trans-masculine folks across Maryland under a healing justice framework.

What are we working toward?

Mosaic is working towards developing the hands-on leadership and belonging of Black trans men and trans-masculine folks across Maryland through the formation of trades, healing justice, and land stewardship. Our purpose is to feed ourselves on community-owned land, to demonstrate care for ourselves and our community, and build communities of practice.

Our Hypothesis:

If we invest in the commitment to the safety, security, and self-determination of Black trans men and trans-masculine folks, we’d build a regenerative orientation to ourselves, the land, and Black TGNC futures across our communities.

What are the requirements to become a member?

  • Have a 2:1 with members of the core team

  • Be a Black trans man or Black trans-masculine Marylander or resident of the DMV tri-state area

  • Be committed to building community and your own leadership within the cooperative through sustained presence, responsibility, and ownership: participating in at least one community event per year.

  • Be committed to vulnerability, evolution, growth, shared space, shared self,  learning, listening, and being heard. We don't all come healed, but the expectation is that folks come with the desire to be in process of doing so with our siblings

  • Be excited! Land work, resource organizing, and creating a new world with our siblings is transformative! And we have the opportunity to shape this within our collective; but we need folks who want to participate, not just to receive, but to also be in service of our siblings, neighbors, and beyond
